John W. Pinkerton, a self-taught artist from Somerville, TX, only began an earnest pursuit of his art after retiring from public education. He overcame what he describes as a talent deficit, with humor and good attitude. He says, “ I don’t farm & I’m a terrible golfer, so I was pretty limited in my choices of what to do with the leftover energy: I chose art.” John has since had many shows around the USA including "Cats, Cats, Cats"; "Man (and Woman’s) Best Friend" (with Jane DuBose); "Pinkerton’s People"; "He Said, She Said" (with Debbie Little - Wilson); and "John Pinkerton".
