With a deep passion for art history\, she explores the transformation of one art form into another\, reinterpreting ideas across disciplines and mediums.\nFor many years\, Isabella has focused on jewelry design\, guided by the inherent character of natural stones. Her work emphasizes the color\, texture\, and shape of each material\, allowing the essence of the gemstone to inform the final piece.\nWith extensive experience in architecture\, Isabella brings a specific perspective to jewelry making. She recognizes that both disciplines share fundamental principles—color\, proportion\, material\, and comfort in use—and she translates this architectural sensibility into wearable form.

DESCRIPTION:ENERG-iiAn Interarts Music & Visual Program \nJoin us at DEGALLERY for ENERG-ii\, a powerful interdisciplinary performance exploring the many manifestations of energy—physical\, creative\, and historical—expressed through sound and image. \nThe program features Lynn Vartan\, percussionist\, Grammy-nominated artist\, Pulitzer Prize finalist\, and Marimba One Signature Artist\, alongside Michael Bruner\, whose real-time digital visualizations transform sound into immersive visual landscapes. Together\, they create a multi-sensory performance in which vibration\, resonance\, and motion become visible and audible. \nCentered around the vibraphone\, the music evokes static electricity\, kinetic force\, flowing water\, and reflections on the atomic age\, while Bruner’s responsive visuals shimmer\, pulse\, and evolve live with the performance—expanding the experience beyond sound alone. \nMarch 27 | 7:00 PMDEGALLERYPresented in collaboration with the Institute for Applied Creativity\, Texas A&M University \nExperience an evening where contemporary music\, visual art\, and technology converge into a meditation on energy—intangible yet undeniable\, dangerous yet beautiful\, endlessly transformative. \nAdmission is FREE. SUMMARY:2 workshops together: "Watercolor Batik" and "Acrylic is THE COOLEST MEDIUM" Workshops with award winning artist Kathie George.
DESCRIPTION:DAY 1 – WATERCOLOR BATIK\nWax and watercolor – put the two together on textured rice paper and wow! You get a look you cannot achieve any other way. This is not an exact science\, so just relax and enjoy the process. Kathie will lead you step-by-step through her process of layering watercolor and wax\, teaching all the important skills you need to become an expert. The best way to teach you this technique is to work together on the same project\, so the class will be working from a photo she has chosen. If you’ve worked with Kathie before and would like to work on your own photo with Kathie’s help\, you can do so. You’ll be excited when you see what this technique can do for your own work! This is a fun class and you’ll be anxious to get home and try it on your own designs. No watercolor skills are necessary. We get a bit messy\, but we have fun doing it! \nDay 2 – ACRYLIC IS THE COOLEST MEDIUM\nIt can be used like watercolor\, oil and everything in between. Begin the day by learning to build a beautiful surface! Enjoy experimenting with different texture mediums to create a wonderful ground for our painting. We’ll pour and carve and stamp and scrape till we get a simply scrumptious surface. Then we develop the subject with beautiful transparent glazes and thicker applications\, too. With acrylic there are really no mistakes\, just a lot of fun as you discover that this is indeed the most forgiving\, adaptable medium.\nIf you’ve wanted to know where acrylic can take you and what it can do for your artwork\, this is the class for you. Kathie will lead you step-by-step through the painting process. You can use Kathie’s design or draw your own. You’ll leave class with a completed painting and the skills and confidence to go with it.\n \nAbout Kathie George: https://kathiegeorgeart.com/

SUMMARY:Oil Painting workshop "Natural Colors in Realistic Painting" with Al Slavin
DESCRIPTION:Oil Painting workshop “Natural Colors in Realistic Painting” with Al Slavin \nOIL PAINTING workshop for beginners\, semiprofessionals\, and professional artists. \n3 days\,  January 22-24\,  from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm \nA free days workshop with Al Slavin where we will learn how to use dynamic light in your paintings to create an emotional bond with your viewer. Also emphasized: color theory\, values\, design and composition\, the use of mediums and techniques. \nThe paintings of Al Slavin call to mind magical memories and the promise of a beautiful future. He has the unique ability to capture with brushstrokes all that is good and right with the world and condense it into mystical scenes of enchanted light. Al Slavin moved to Homer\, Alaska when he was 14 years old and he was so moved by the raw beauty of the place that it moved him to express it through paint. He still draws on those feelings when he needs inspiration for a painting or has a little painter’s block. Al has been studying color theory\, painting techniques\, learning how to use mediums\, and experimenting with substrates for about 40 years. In his paintings\, Al tries to express emotions through good light and beautifully rendered scenes with rich colors. Most of Al Slavin’s artwork is from his imagination\, pulled from his many experiences from the many different places he has lived throughout his life. \nMore information about the artist: Al Slavin Fine Art

SUMMARY:Free DEMO: "Photographing with Intent; Moving Beyond the Snapshot" by Joel D. Kitchens\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:Free DEMO: “Photographing with Intent; Moving Beyond the Snapshot” by Joel D. Kitchens\, PhD\n \nDescription: There are many reasons people take photographs\, and for many of those people grabbing a quick snapshot with the camera built into their cell phone is sufficient. But if you are interested in moving beyond a mere snapshot\, if you want your photographs to stand out\, this class is for you! This session will encourage you to see the world as the camera sees the world (hint: humans have two eyes while most cameras just have one lens). Whether you shoot with a digital camera or a film camera\, there are technical and artistic concepts that can dramatically improve your images. Come ready to take notes and an open mind!\n\n\n\n \n\nAbout Joel D. Kitchens\, PhD \n\n\nAssociate Professor Emeritus\nTexas A&M University:\n\n\n\n“Although I was born in Birmingham\, and grew up in small towns around northern Alabama\, I have lived in Texas since 1997\, and was on the faculty of Texas A&M University for nearly 25 years before retiring. \nAs a photographer\, I am largely self-taught. I did take an art photography class in college that taught the basics of black and white film photography (no digital in those days!). Today\, my photographic process remains traditional and purposely retro; from capturing images on black and white films in sizes from 35mm and 2 ¼ x 2 ¼\, to 4×5 inches (my favorite!)\, developing the film in a wet darkroom\, to printing the images on silver gelatin papers from the enlarged negatives. Each print is hand processed according to the Ilford archival sequence\, toned in selenium\, and mounted using acid-free materials for longevity. \nMy photography reflects a wide range of interests\, including historic sacred architecture\, landscapes and nature\, abstracts\, and still life. With my photographs\, I try to attract viewers’ interest by revealing the “spirit of place\,” as well as the interplay of light and shadow. I also try to show through my images that beauty\, serenity\, and tranquility are to be found all around us. In doing so\, my purpose is to highlight overlooked details\, pique viewers’ curiosity\, and encourage them to see and experience familiar places anew. \n\nFun facts:\n\nMy doctorate in History was directly inspired by my photography of San Antonio’s Spanish missions.\nAlthough largely self-taught\, I have recently participated in workshops led by Alan Ross\, a former assistant to the renowned artist\, Ansel Adams.\nArtists who have influenced or inspired my work include: Ansel Adams\, Alan Ross\, Edward Weston\, Minor White\, and M. C. Escher.\nWhile working in my darkroom\, I am usually listening to music by a wide variety of artists including: the Allman Brothers\, Dave Brubeck\, Jethro Tull\, Kitaro\, Rush\, Miles Davis\, B. B. King\, Willie Nelson\, Shadowfax\, Eric Clapton\, J. S. Bach\, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov\, and ZZ Top.\nFavorite art/photographic-related quote: “One should not only photograph things for what they are\, but for what else they are.” – Minor White.”

We will focus on clouds and trees to showcase the light.
